Prayer Warrior Ministries - In Luke, Jesus stops on His way to Jerusalem to visit some friends. Martha is in the kitchen, whipping up some fabulous dishes to offer Jesus, while her sister Mary sits in the living room,listening to Jesus teach. Martha asks Jesus to make Mary come help her, and He tells her, "Martha, you are so worried about these little details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about and Mary has discovered it, and I won't take that away from her." Now,that had to really upset poor Martha, as she was trying to impress Jesus with her abilities, and He tells her that what she is concerned over is not important.


How many times do we become Marthas? Pastor is coming for a visit, and we tear around the house, cleaning and cooking till we nearly faint from the exertion. We are having a fellowship dinner, and we simply must cook the best casserole dish there.


Mary sat at Jesus' feet, and simply sought to learn, to understand what He was teaching. Are there times that we need to just put down the dust cloth, or leave the dishes for a few minutes, so we can sit at the feet of Jesus? So many times, we seek praises for our clean house, or our wonderfully sculpted lawn, that we overlook what is important, taking time to be with Jesus. He desires for each of us to simply sit at His feet, and be taught by Him.


Take a minute or two, and sit down, listen to what He is trying to teach you. Pull up a cozy chair, and sit at the feet of Jesus for awhile. Relax, nothing else is as important as the time you spend with the Lord.
